Breaking bad news

In 2012, I published newly developed guidance on how to break bad news to people with intellectual disabilities.

These are flexible guidelines that can be used by practitioners, families and carers to ease the process of breaking bad news to people with intellectual disabilities. The guidelines are adaptable to individual communication ability and level of understanding

My previous website www.breakingbadnews.org is no longer available.
Details about the guidelines can be found in various other places:

Training module for carers and support staff (produced by Open Future Learning)

Book for carers and professionals (available in English and Dutch)

Book for people with intellectual disabilities
